Bored browsing and read through the old 'whats up?' thread. Ahh nostalgia. So, its been 7 years since the last (as of the most recent backup/restore) thread. How has everyone been doing? I hope well! I've uh... Well, 2012 was when I graduated highschool, so then there was 2 years of university (arch...

Alright, just got back from a little vacation for the weekend, and I typed this up in my downtime. Here's my "To-Do" document for this project, while I revisit it and get familiar with VB6 and programming in general, having been away for nearly a decade now...

Siloman! Siloman! is a very, very basic platformer that my team made in just 24(?) hours during a game jam session many years ago. Play as a little running man trying to collect points in order to proceed to the next randomly generated screen, but be sure not to fall to the bottom! https://i.imgur....

Ya, I think the winsock conversion would be the most troublesome for me.

I think my last project I was working on was using byte arrays, so that'll be fun. What was causing the greater difficulty with the conversion of those?

You make it sound so simple, but I'm sure there were many hours put into hunting down errors! lol

Oh no, I think I just threw away my hard copy of VB6 when I moved a year ago. O.o I'll have to look when I get home today.

I hadn't messed with it any more, I'd just assumed that it wouldn't work. Have you had any issues getting it to run, either the IDE or the produced programs?

Looks like that did it! Woohoo.

I have such strong feelings of nostalgia with this place... Also makes me feel a bit old. ;)

Clicking "remember me" seems to have worked. No problems with login now. I've tried discord a couple of times, accepted the invite, I'll be able to send a message, but next time I load up the app, the server is no longer available and I have to reclick the link. Wasn't sure if it was techn...

Are there problems with login? I keep getting logged out.

Cool to see all of the old posts! Pretty cringe worthy on my part, but I do remember having a lot of fun learning about programming and stuff!

(Also, are we allowed onto the Discord?)

Aye, I'd love to see some activity as well. I check at least every other day to see if someone has posted. Unfortunately they usually don't :(

But bots seem to love this forum... Perhaps we can get an active mod to keep them at bay?

You'd be better off remaking it in Java and OpenGL, that way you can get the most cross-platform-ability (lol) out of it, plus then you get browser support, and it'll run 5x better than with Unity (which is primarily a 3D engine, and a very slow one at that). If you plan on mobile and mac/linux gami...

Well, I've recently taken a looking to Java for game development (cross-platform and ease of use really appealed to me), so I ordered Java for Dummies and Java SE 6 game programming, but I was wondering if any of you knew of any really good tutorials to be found?

Thanks,

Welp, at my school we have a FIRST Robotics team, and I was tasked with designing the website (after seeing the crappy work that the website design class did last year), so I managed to come up with... this. Haha, please take a look and give me some constructive criticism! Sprockets2341.com Thanks, Pb
