Don't use strings for your widget id's. Use numbers, maybe with constants with the equivelent names of the strings. Then just change UI to an array of types instead of a function. Seems like the easiest/fastest way to do it to me. |

Instead of making UI a function, make it an array? Then you can in another function, like GetUI return the index of the array. |

For the UI("WidgetName"), I assume UI is a function, you can make it return a type, and then put draggable in that type. Something Like Function UI (Byval WidgetName as String) as Widget Code End Function and Type Widget Draggable as Boolean X as Integer Y as Integer Height as Integer Widt... |

Seems ok. Personally it doesn't seem like that big of a deal. We've all seen dx8 gui's, etc. I mean like its impressive, don't get me wrong, but I am not sure as to what kind of comments you are looking for. You seem to have everything pretty worked out. |

This is about all of the times on msn/forums that people have told me and others that such and such engine will be the greatest every and will come out next week. We all stop what we are doing and make preperations, then the engine gets delayed a week, then another week, then another week, and all o... |

When you say, "I am going to release it soon", you imply that you are going to release it soon. |

Yes, that makes sense, I used the wrong words. What I meant was that if your advertising an engine, your making it for who you are advertising to, ie the developers. And if you are advertising a game, you are also making it for who you are advertising to, ie the players. If you are going to advertis... |

I asked grim the question to make a follow up point about his answer to it. By him not giving an answer, I can only assume that he doesn't know, or is only here by habit/to keep in touch with friends. That is fine, but really, its fairly obvious to everyone here that we don't get much done. People s... |

I did program my own engine. The whole "I'm doing this for free" argument is fine IF you don't advertise. When you start advertising you make a promise that you are going to finish, and when you never do you mess with people's games and waste their time. If nobody had advertised their engi... |

I have run games with decent player bases before. Two of them shut down because of new engines that were promised but never finished. I'm fine with things like this being put in later, but you have to realize that when you go advertise these engines other people are making plans to use these engines... |

Ever since I started firecaster??? That would be about when I first came here. I don't care if Giaken adds these things, but asking for MORE features just really seems more like procrastination then actually adding things. Turning off the map name through the admin panel won't get your game released... |

Most of those features are useless, and are only their to make your feature list higher. Work on getting the actual engine done, not getting it to look like its done. |

You may be able to just use elysium. It looks like the guy who made your engine didn't really change much, just translated it. Elysium might have all the features you need, and be open source too. Just a thought. |

Its not clear he will get the spot. I have pretty high standards, and a few people lined up to do it already. The map editor is not a very new user friendly tool, but since I programmed it all from scratch, im pretty comfortable modding it to fit any mappers needs. |

Yea it would be better if you downloaded mirage/playerworlds or something. Your working on one of matts games right? If you finish one of the maps in the Noob Forest and send it to me that would be fine too. Its a bit of a hassle to send you the map editor. |

Well then use that. GNU requires everything you release with it to be open source, including games. |
