Dave, you're either not reading, or you're reading and not understanding.

I'm done with this topic.

If a license goes on this, I will delete the source and cease to help DFA out.

Simple as that.

No. There is a license on the base source used. This isn't exactly an official MSE. :P

This source has the same license as MSE, Matt, until William states otherwise ;D

*shrugs*

Personally, I say fuck the license, no matter what version I use. If I change something, it's my source code. If I choose to fix something and not release it, oh well. Someone else will.

There is literally no point in a license. If it doesn't get removed, I'll take 303, add all the fixes from MSE into it. Then take that, add all the fixes from MSE2 (Even though there are VERY few..) and then I'll add all DFA's changes to it.

Then I'll just release it without a license.

Then what? :P

Then you'll have wasted a lot of effort when you could just go ask Will if it can be released as public domain xDDDD

That's the problem. If you change something, you're still bound by the terms of the license. If you choose to fix something and not release it, someone else will not necessarily release it. That's the benefit of a license like the GNU GPL, it makes sharing necessary, and everyone gets a better product. People seem to be scared of that license for some reason.

As DFA has not yet changed the GUI, he can not release it as his own and can not remove the license. How about that?

Do what you wish. The GUI will be changed, I'm sure.

I care not, anyways. I've already deleted the source. I'll stick with 303, if I need to start a new project.

DFA started to fix up MSE2 before, that project is currently under the MSE2's license I wrote (since MS3 isn't officialy started yet). That license doesn't restrict anybody from using it as they wish. It only states that bug fixes must be shared. Because the community benefits from that, the rest of it aint any major things. Just small guidelines mostly. I'm not saying we aren't going to have a "Real" license for MS3. But I don't see a reason to use one as long as we have some points like MSE2 currently has.

And the new version is going to be called MS3 so everybody know. I would like it to have a sub name too like: MS2 Architect. But hell, I havn't even looked at the source yet since I've been in Spain for a week and the week after I've been out mostly from the computer.

But either way, unless someone comes with a better license than what MSE2 currently has. That's the one we are going to use with some editing of course.

If you release MS3 under a GNU GPL license, anyone who uses it is required to let their users have the source code if they want it. :D

You're an idiot. Nobody would ever go for that.

Sad that YOU suggested it.

Good god dude. Do everyone a favor and just kill yourself. Shit.

Rofl. Make it so people have to release the source of their games?

That's a bit rich coming from the guy who's got one of the few closed-source engines left.

No, they would be required to distribute the client code only, even if the server was under the GPL. If they don't distribute the server compiled, it does not need to be distributed as source.

Yeah, but that just screams to script kiddies. "Dupe your items, max your character, and then when you get pissed off, flood the server with packets until it gets a runtime error"

Then protect the server properly.

Or just don't put it under that license.

Problem solved.

I've since changed by view of the GNU license. Sorry I suggested it. ;)

Not really. Trust me. You'd know if I were. You guys like to claim that's what I do around here all the time. When in reality, I've never bitched about anything around here. Just stated my opinion and spoke my mind. I didn't know being assertive, was bitching though. I'll have to call Webster and tell them to add a clause to the definition of "Bitch"..

"To be assertive."
