Post subject:  Resolution?

I was thinking what resolution to make my project in. I was thinking 800x600 everyone has at least that much, but then again I thought people should have better than that by now. Just wondering what the consensus is on this. Anyone have that or lower? Or are most past it. What do you guys use for your projects if you have fullscreen?

If I were to make a fullscreen game, I'd use 800x600.

1024x768. You're only cutting out about maybe 7-9% of computer users, and how many of those 7-9% are young gamers, aka your target audience?

So, 1024x768.

Full-screen scaling res that supports 3 aspect ratio's is the way to go!

Yeah that's true, but the more resolution the lower the FPS...example.

I run my DX8 on windowed and I'm at 1280x800 and I get around 600 FPS and when I switch it to 800x600 full screen I get about 2000 FPS.

Then why don't you always run at 800x600 if you get the FPS boost?

Because it's impractical. 800x600 is impractical. Seriously, think about your target audience. 1024x768
