Music saved as string..?

Author:  James [ Sun Jan 28, 2007 6:34 pm ]
Post subject:

Speaking of Music, if I understand what Kite is saying, remove the "MUSIC1.mid" crap and allow music to be named whatever, just have the client search in the music folder for whatever the extension is like *.mp3 or *.mid and list them. Also add in a default "Preview" button for the music, unless its in there and I'm forgetful. o.O

Added it to the list, some improvements to the music part would be a good idea.

I was thinking more along the lines of Common Dialogue, but your idea is better :)

Yep, we need a preview button.

hmm lets see here .....

seperate the mapeditor from mirage.frm
add the ability to have multiple tile sets<would be nice you dotn have to do it lol>
add more layers if you already havent
add the ability to have multiple attributes on one tile 8)
Make it so in frm mirage for the screen thing increase the ammount of tiles that is being used on it so it looks farther away when your playing the game   better speech system for npcs lol...

Oh god, do NOT make the mapeditor its own form, that's easy to do and it makes it a PAIN for classic mappers such as myself, it gets annoying when you loose focus from the main game and think you are still mapping that features gets a big fat F on the list of things to add, meaning, please don't.

Find a way to compress map data down so the size of them are a lot smaller before adding any more map attributes or new layers.. It would just increase the size of maps.. We dont want our players waiting when they are receiving a map..

But yeah, thats really all i can think of at the moment.. Dont add too many features into MSE2, keep it pretty feature free.. This way people who make games will have totally unqiue games from on another you know what i mean.. It will give them the abilty to customise it completely how they want it.. We should keep MSE2 just as a simple structure, or base to work upon.. We shouldnt do the job for them.. :)

It's very odd how everybody keep posting: don't add any features. Since I know that. And lordgivemick, those are things people can easily do on their own.

Amen to that.

Maybe fix the minor bugs that came with MS 303

Do anybody know anything else that can be added to the list? Any bugs you may occured but not reported etc.

Can't see it on the list, Speech, like in ED? I just forgot why I wanted to move to mirage...?????

Author:  William [ Thu Feb 15, 2007 6:10 pm ]
Post subject:

Speech will not be added.. sorry. Move to MS because its Great?

Author:  -_FirZen_- [ Thu Feb 15, 2007 8:52 pm ]
Post subject:

Hum I see... If I could just take it from ED...

Maybe I want to move because MS is more basic... but still, I hate MS' GUI... other engines have a better base GUI for me to work on...

I guess you havnt seen the new GUI then :P

It's still pretty basic but more userfriendly, wait for MSE2 and make your choise after that.

I meant Ingame GUI. Its mostly black with some buttons... Check the old konfuze, for example, a style that is still used in some engines. I'm very picky about visual GUI. Graphics not so much because what counts is gameplay.
Also, you could add proper moving. From MSE 1, it... well, lets not be afraid of words, sucked <censored> like <censored><censored>.
yeah I just had to censor...

Btw, you reply fast as hell...

Author:  William [ Thu Feb 15, 2007 9:00 pm ]
Post subject:

Konfuze had way for features, thats what made it look good.

Explain how your proper moving should work.

Author:  -_FirZen_- [ Thu Feb 15, 2007 9:05 pm ]
Post subject:

From what I have seen on a fresh install of MSE, the character moves like:
right foot ; left foot ; right foot ; and so on.

Proper moving would be:

Stand ; right foot ; stand ; left foot ; repeat.

I don't know if there is a tutorial here for that. Its pretty easy to put in, but I've seen cases of people downloading VB source from Elysium Diamond without VB6... If you want a link, I'll post it, unless its already around (post in the specific section, of course).

Okay, nah I dont need it.

Author:  -_FirZen_- [ Thu Feb 15, 2007 9:17 pm ]
Post subject:

Ok. This looks just like chatting online.

Also, I asked on the tutorial topic if the proper moving thing worked on mirage. No reply yet. As soon as I know, I'll search for an existing post, or make a new one. Yay I know forum usage rules :P

Also:
"Konfuze had way for features, thats what made it look good."

What do you mean by that? Inventory, HP, MP, Who's online, all that exists within MSE, they are just put together in 8 buttons or so. I can't navigate on that GUI, maybe because I'm stupid, or maybe because I'm too used to Konfuze style.

I'm slow understanding stuff, I know. Be aware.

Post subject:

I ment the visual inventory and such. There are 6 buttons on MSE, just press on them =/

Author:  -_FirZen_- [ Thu Feb 15, 2007 9:29 pm ]
Post subject:

Ok... I guess I would have to... break... my source trying to do the Visual inventory stuff... You're right, Just click them... I dunno, guess its just the visual punch I like :P

By the way, is there an estimate time on MSE2's release?
