Is there no way to write a MySQL dump using a program that writes it out for you? I could handwrite a dump, but I don't have the patience, or the time to do it... If there is a program that'll autmatically write a dump for you, depending on what values and variable types you give it, could you please post it here? I've done a Google search on it, but I've found nothing. |

There's an online one that you could use.. it's called phpMyAdmin, and you set it up on your localhost. You can edit MySql tables and such with it, so it's really nice to have. Website Address: http://www.phpmyadmin.net/home_page/index.php PS: If you already haven't noticed, you must have PHP installed, a webserver and MySQL. |

phpMyAdmin works good, but it's hard to set up for the inexperienced. I managed to get it after some time to let me edit tables only as localhost, but peopel can still see the stuff without logging in, so boo. |

If you use apache, it is simple to setup.. If you use IIS, it requires a little more smooth-talking. |

If that's what you call simple, I can't immagine the smooth talking required for IIS |

I've never had to do anything other than extract the files in the folder I wanted them in.. (When using Apache) When using IIS, I had to edit the config file, and setup a login/pw.. I'm sure there are other ways to do it, but I was just running it 'real quick' so I didn't need to be elaborate with it. |

If you need a guide to Apache / PHP / MySQL / CGI then go HERE (http://ricocheting.com/server/). PS: If you use this guide, don't forget to change everything to your drive. (In their tutorial, they used E:\; it's usually C:\.) |

Nice, I used a similar tutorial to set up my webserver a while back. Now the MySQL, PHP, and even Apache versions are far outdated... but im too scared to update them |
