Somebody give me pointers for this GUI...I'm not sure what I need to do or what colors I should change or whatever.

Something cartoony. Animé works best usually, as these games usually use animé-based sprites. Don't use block gradients or colour. Texture them. |

Pfft, I can make animé look amazing. As I said, having an image with some random shit over it doesn't look good. Blend it. |

Layer Blending Options are a good one, the others are the texture stamp tool that I showed in my GUI tutorial, and then just colour overlays. One thing: Never use just a picture in the background. Do something to it. The best one is to get a render, or an image with a white background, and use 'colour burn' to place it over a parchment texture. I use that a lot, and it looks amazing
