If I do, it's built in to the modem.

I have no way to configure or access the router ... 192.168.2.1 is the way I access my modem configuration and there isn't anything there related to port forwarding

then you have a router with a built-in modem.

what about anything like "Virtual Host" or such like?

Just because you said that I decided not to give up. Ass :)

Anyways, I had s friend who's helping me with this game use his computer to try and connect.

I used the No-IP client to update the DNS <valaron.zapto.org> so that it satys constant with the changing IP. I put that No-IP address into both the server and client. Sent him the client and started the server. He couldn't connect. I changed the server ip to the networks IP just for kicks, which also didn't work.

My brother was at a friends, he also tried the script, which contained the no-IP address, and it also wouldn't connect to the server.

So what does this tell us? That only I can play my Multi-Player game... lol.

Where should I go from here? Port forwarding doesn't seem to be an option on the modem configuration, nor is there anything related to it there. However, there are 2 DNS server addresses there... can they be used in any way?

if you arent directly connected to the internet, and your whatismyip is different than your ip from ipconfig, you do need to portforward, look in your modems manual, or router actually...if you have one.

You are prohibited form using the Service for such activities as:

Running, and/or hosting server applications including but not limited to HTTP, FTP, POP, SMTP, Proxy/SOCKs, and NNTP.

Does that include Mirage Servers ya think? :(

that's bullshit... but all they can do to stop you is block certain ports.. do like i said... change the port to something crazy like 13375 and they're screwed lol

From the documentation in the book it seems that ALL of their equipment is like this... Evil Evil People!!!

Are you behind a router, connected directly to the internet, or are you on a network and connecting through another PC to access the internet?

Since I added you to MSN, and you're never on. Lol.

start server, wait 'til loaded

then test the port on this:
http://ce3c.be/stuff/razact/

if it says there are problems, then it's the router

Miss, setup doesn't do anything other than connect the modem to the internet... I just read through bell's website and it says that every modem contains a NAT firewall...

@Advocate, I'll be on shortly

Okay we can forget about this now.

Me and advocate discovered, numerous times I think :p, that my computer won't allow itself to be found on the internet.

It resulted in me calling the ISP to see if port forwarding was possible with my modem and they said no. Not with the current one. If I upgrad emy internet package, though, they send a new modem, with a built in router, which does allow port forwarding, though it isn't condoned by the ISP ... poo on them.

I also found out that the modem I have doesn't in fact have a router built into it, it's a NAT firewall. So umm, if anyone knows how to bypass one, and unmask the IP :) tell me lol.

The guy told me I can't have any computer contact my computer, at all. This is a lie, in my mind anyways, because I can chat on MSN, and AIM. I'm sending a message to a sever which is sending it to someone. And someone sends a message to the server which then sends me the message, right? So technically, the server is connecting to my computer, and sending it information.

Anyways, behind on my net bills as it is and unless I pay nother 5 bucks a month, which at this point seems like a lot, or I can find a way to unmask the IP and getting past the firewall, I can't host. Thanks for all your suggestions though lol... you tried.

as with comcast. hosting any type of server or service is against the TOS unless you upgrade to business class.

instead of changing ISP perhaps... you should ring them up and threaten to change ISP...

they may just give you stuff to keep you as a customer... worked with BT for me... nice spare router :)
